You will need a few essential items for your new guinea pig. We’ve compiled this Online Shopping Checklist to help you find the right items at the best prices online.

Guinea pig cage or hutch

Your choice of a home for your guinea pig will depend on whether you have chosen to keep him indoors or out. In case you haven’t yet decided, we guarantee you will get to know your guinea pig better, and enjoy his company more, if you keep him indoors. If you live in a very cold or very hot climate, you need to keep him indoors where the temperature can be regulated.

Make sure the cage you choose is large enough! A pet with not enough room will be unhappy and unsociable. Remember you will need 2 square feet per guinea pig at a minimum. Here are some suggested cages for indoor use, to suit various tastes and budgets:
